Keep It Together is the ninth track on Madonna’s fourth album Like A Prayer. The track contains guitar by Prince, who was not credited. Ten months after the album’s release, Keep It Together was released as the album’s sixth single. Prince’s contribution was recorded in mid-November 1988, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince’s guitar part on this song is borrowed from Sly And The Family Stone’s track Family Affair to stick with the thematic of Madonna’s lyrics. Madonna usually also included the chorus and verses of Family Affair during her live renditions of Keep It Together.
