A.C. is the third and final solo album by André Cymone (who had left Prince's band in 1981), and was released on 16 August, 1985. The album included one song written and produced by Prince, titled The Dance Electric, which was Prince's first and only contribution to André Cymone's solo studio recordings. Prince reportedly gave the song to André Cymone after Cymone's mother asked Prince for a song (Cymone himself was too proud to do so). The rest of the album was written and produced by André Cymone.
The album produced three singles, The Dance Electric, Satisfaction, and Lipstick Lover. The Dance Electric became his biggest hit, perhaps due to Prince's input on the song.
The album reached only number 121 on the US Billboard 200 Chart, but reached number 28 on the US Billboard Soul LP's Chart.
The Dance Electric was recorded by Prince almost exactly a year before the album's release, on 17 August, 1984. Cymone's lead vocals were overdubbed at some point between late 1984 and Summer 1985.
An expanded CD re-release of the album was released by Big Break Records in the UK in 2011, marking the album's first CD release, and containing additional tracks, including the versions of The Dance Electric previously only included on the single release of The Dance Electric.
