Nothing Compares 2 Him is the eighth promotional compilation album by Prince, available in Summer 1990 on cassette to be played in stores to promote the Nude Tour in the UK where Prince played no less than 21 shows (including setting a record-breaking of 16 performances at Wembley Arena in London that year).

A promotional VHS, also titled Nothing Compares 2 Him, was also available for in-store play.

The cassette contains twenty tracks which have all been previously released as singles. Most of them were also included on Sounds O’ The Times and Eye88.png Love Prince (only Dirty Mind and Girls & Boys were not kept from the previous selections).

Prince had released eleven albums at that point, but neither For You nor Controversy were represented on this collection. Nothing Compares 2 Him includes songs from Batman (Batdance and Partyman). The version of Batdance included here is the album version shortened to make it start from the Vicky Vale part. The dialogues sampled from the film are kept, as is the intro for Partyman. The versions of I Would Die 4 U and Kiss are taken from their respective albums (unlike the versions included on Sounds O’ The Times and Eye88.png Love Prince).

Despite its title, the tape doesn’t contain the song Nothing Compares 2 U which was a worldwide number one single (including in the UK) when covered by Irish singer Sinead O’Connor.
