Our Story is the first and only studio album by Milenia. It was initially available for purchase online on their official website in December 2002 and selected stores in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA (Milenia’s hometown). A proposed deal with LaFace Records for a nationwide release did not materialize. The album became widely available only in February 2006 with a digital release on Itunes and CD’s repressed in 2005 (still as a self-release). The album contained Promise, produced by Prince, and No Can Do (Remix), which was remixed by Prince (he was likely not involved in the original version, also included on the album).

Sessions and compiling

The exact recording dates for Prince’s contributions are unknown, but Our Story was recorded during the Summer of 2001. The songs were written by Milenia and produced by Kirk Johnson with additional production by Kip Blackshire. The album was mostly recorded at Kirk Johnson’s and Morris Hayes’ home-studios in Minnesota. In her book Purple Reigned On Me published in 2012, Mikki White explained that Prince provided advices during the recording of the album although his contribution is uncredited:
"We received his professional advice for songs and even re-did some songs he insisted that we to do over (sic). Once I remember him asking us to come to his studio (Paisley Park), to do a few songs over. We did. It happened to be a cool experience working with him because he was a perfectionist and was good at what he did (...).All of the songs we were to record were written by us; we arranged tge songs, prepared the vocals, and were ready to record. Prince scrutinized our lyrics and each song was reviewed microscopically. We ended-up co-writing several of our songs with Prince."

Singer Niyoki White has confirmed that Prince provided additional production and remixed Promise and No Can Do, but no further details are known about his contribution to the other songs on the album (entries will be created if further informations become available).

Tracks containing more known input by Prince which were recorded for potential inclusion on the album included Country Player, Pour Me A Cup, All In My Backyard and a remake of With This Tear but they remain unreleased.
