Bite The Beat is the seventh track on Vanity 6’s first and only album Vanity 6, and, in Fall 1982, Bite The Beat was released as the album’s second single. In 1983, it was also included on the 12" single of Drive Me Wild, the album’s fourth and final single. Prince wrote the lyrics, which were credited to Brenda Bennett, while the music was written by Jesse Johnson (his first published work).
While specific recording dates are unknown, basic tracking took place in late March 1982 at Prince’s Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (in the same sessions that produced Nasty Girl and He’s So Dull).
