Compassion is the first track from Prince's 35th album 20TEN.
Basic tracking dates are uncertain, but it is believed that the track was recorded in early-to-mid 2006 at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota or at 3121 Antelo Rd. in Los Angeles, California (Ray Monteiro finished working with Prince in late August 2006). It is possible that the horn parts were recorded in 2006 (possibly even for a different track) with the rest of the song following later, but this is purely speculative. It is believed that background vocals were recorded in early 2010 at Paisley Park Studios, and further work on the track may have been done at the same time.
