Cookie Jar is an unreleased cover version of the 1976 track by Fuzzy Haskins (from the 1976 album A Whole Nother Thang) recorded on 12 and 13 November 1988, during two days off from the Lovesexy Tour (between shows in Oakland and Seattle), at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California.

The first minute of the recording was accidentally erased by an assistant engineer on the morning following the tracking session, when the two inch tape was striped with tones (which were often recorded at the beginning of analog tapes as part of a calibration process for the tape machine).

It is unknown if Prince re-recorded this first portion and if this song was intended for any project.
