Dear Michaelangelo is the second track on Sheila E.’s second album Romance 1600, and, two weeks before the album’s release, was included as the b-side of Bedtime Story, the album’s second single.
Basic tracking took place in early January 1985 at Master Sound, Atlanta, Georgia (during the same set of sessions as Fish Fries and Toy Box), while in Atlanta for dates on the Purple Rain Tour.
In 2019, Prince’s own version was released as the thirteenth track on the posthumous album Originals.
