Fun is the ninth track (eighth song) on Carmen Electra’s only album Carmen Electra. Fun was planned as the album’s first single in 1991 (with the artist credit "Carmen"), and promotional copies were pressed, but the single was left unreleased when the album was postponed; the pressed promotional copies of the single were released through the 1-800 New Funk phone service in 1998, however. The track was written by Prince and Carmen Electra, and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer).
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in early Spring 1991, at Paisley Park Studios,Chanhassen, MN, USA, as one of the first tracks recorded for the album. It was included as the fourth track on a 15 June 1992 configuration of the album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen").
