Funknroll is the twelfth and final track on Prince's 36th album Plectrumelectrum (the first by Prince and 3rdEyeGirl), as well as the eleventh track on Prince's 37th album Art Official Age (in remixed form).

The track was first mentioned by blogger Dr. Funkenberry on 31 July 2013 (along with a cover version by Prince of Alice Smith's Another Love), before its live debut four days later.

On 4 March 2014, Prince and 3rdEyeGirl performed the track on The Arsenio Hall Show TV show; a studio version was premiered two days later (along with Fallinlove2nite) on radio station 102.3 KJLH, based in Los Angeles, California.
