Get Satisfied is the fifth track on George Clinton’s second and final Paisley Park Records album Hey Man... Smell My Finger. The song was written by George Clinton, Clip Payne and Tracey "Treylewd" Lewis, and produced by Foley and George Clinton. Prince appears singing background vocals on the track, uncredited.
While specific recording dates are not known, album sessions took place between 1990-1991 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince began playing the track live in April 1993, suggesting that it may have been recorded later in the sessions, although it is possible that Prince’s vocals were added to a pre-existing recording. It was included as the first track on a 1992 configuration of the album, which was changed significantly before release. The track was quoted in The Exodus Has Begun, which uses the line "like George said, get satisfied (let’s get satisfied, let’s get satisfied)".
A live version of Get Satisfied (with Prince in the audience) was broadcast on The Ryde Dyvine TV-special on 19 December 1992, 10 months before its release on Hey Man... Smell My Finger. This live version, released as Let’s Get Satisfied / Dope Dog in 1997 on George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars’ live album Live... And Kickin’, contained lyrics from a song called Dope Dog which was considered for Clinton’s second Paisley Park Records album Hey Man... Smell My Finger. Dope Dog was later released version as US Custom Coast Guard Dope Dog in 1994 on George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars’ album Dope Dog.
