Josh began playing bass at the age of 16 primarily because of the influence of his older brother, who was first to start playing guitar and piano at church. He also incorporated a lot of what he learned in church with his experience at Kashmere High School, under the tutelage of Mr. William Portis. It was in Josh’s 10th grade year that he began playing and traveling with the Kashmere Jazz Ensemble, as well as the school’s Marching Band. It was in Joshua’s senior year at Kashmere that he had his first recording experience with Professor Conrad Johnson and other members of the Jazz Band.
