Kamasutra/Overture #8 is the ninth track on the The NPG Orchestra’s first and only album Kamasutra, initially released on cassette in 1997 (the album was later included as a bonus CD on the direct order version of Crystal Ball, Prince’s 20th album Crystal Ball, the fourth album to be credited to SymbolSmallerBlue.png).

Basic tracking dates are unknown, but it is likely that the track was recorded in 1994 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, with orchestral overdubs by Clare Fischer’s orchestra done at Ocean Way Recording, Hollywood, California in December 1994.

Recording of a vastly different arrangement took place in May 1995 and that version was considered for release as Madhouse using the track title Overture #5. An edit of that version, now titled Seventeen, was part of NPG Ahdio Show 1 and later included on the Man‘O’War (Remix) NPG Records Sampler in 2000, which was ultimately unreleased.
