Love's No Fun is the fifth track on Elisa Fiorillo's second album, I Am. The track was written by Prince and produced by David Z. Rivkin. Prince also appears as a musician on the track, playing all instruments.
In 1995, a version containing additional recording and vocal overdubs by Mayte was included as the seventh track on Mayte's first and only album Child Of The Sun, with David Z. Rivkin still credited as producer (as it uses the same basic tracks) and Kirk Johnson listed as co-producer; Prince's writing credit was listed as , the name he was using at the time.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in Autumn 1989 - early 1990 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions as Playgirl and Ooh This I Need).
Additional recording and Mayte's vocal overdubs were recorded in 1993 or 1994, and Mayte's version was included, in a more raw form than released, as the second track on a 1994 configuration of Latino Barbie Doll, which later evolved into Child Of The Sun.
This same version was included as the seventh track on a 5 May 1995 configuration of Child Of The Sun, where it remained for release, although it was worked on further in Summer 1995 before release. It is not known if the track was included on Mayte's album Scorpio, which included some tracks from Child Of The Sun.
