Miss Thang is the fourth track (second song) on T.C. Ellis’s first and only album True Confessions (which also included Miss Thang (Vasquez Ice Mix) as its 16th and final track), and around the time of the album’s release, Miss Thang was released as the album’s first single. The track was written, produced, and largely performed by Prince.

A handwritten tracklist for The Time’s Corporate World on which Prince and Morris Day worked on in Summer 1989 shows that Miss Thang was, at one point, considered for that album. But it is not known if an actual recording with Morris Day’s vocals took place and if it was intended for The Time or T.C. Ellis first.

While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in late Summer, 1989 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. It is not known if Prince recorded his own version, or if T.C. Ellis’ vocals are all that exist for this track. The album and single versions of Miss Thang are remixes made by Larry Robinson. A remix made by Junior Vasquez (Vasquez Ice Mix) was also included as the last track on the album. Several other mixes were also made by David Friedlander and Levi Seacer, Jr. for the single release). The original version (prior to the remixes) of the song remains unreleased.
