Moonsound
Overview & History
Moonsound or Moonsound Studio was a studio owned by Chris Moon where Prince recorded material at the beginning of his career, before he had a record-deal.
Moonsound was situated at different locations and was eventually on Dupont Avenue South, but when Prince (initially with Shampayne) recorded there in the spring and summer of 1976 it was located in a 1,500-square-foot former hair salon at 4937 28th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55417.
Studio
Not much is known about the equipment Chris Moon had in the studio at the time of Prince recording there. It is assumed it was an 8-track or perhaps 16 track studio.
