Positivity is the ninth and final song on Prince's tenth album Lovesexy. In 1993, a newly-recorded version by Mavis Staples was included as the twelfth and final track on her second Paisley Park Records album The Voice, and was included as the 13th and final track when the album was re-released by NPG Records in 1995.

Basic tracking took place on 11 December 1987 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, MN (the same day as Eye88.png No). An unreleased version contains a rap by Cat which was held over (and sampled) from Cindy C. when "The Black Album" was aborted. The rap was taken from J.M. Silk's 1985 track Music Is The Key, although Prince was unaware of this at the time, and he removed it when he found out. While specific recording dates are not known for Mavis Staples' version, it is likely the track was recorded in late 1992 or early-mid 1993 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, re-using some tracks from the original 1987 recording.
