Seven is the seventh track on Madhouse’s first album 8. Seven was written and produced by Prince (credited only to Madhouse), with saxophone and musical input by Eric Leeds.

Basic tracking took place on 30 September 1986 at Prince’s Galpin Blvd Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota (the day after Three, Four and Five, the same day as Six, and the day before Eight); it is likely that the title was assigned only after the final sequence had been arranged for the album. The track contains sampled moans from Vanity 6’s unreleased track Vibrator (later also used on Orgasm).

Other than the similarity in name, Seven is not related musically to the track 7, by Prince and the New Power Generation.
