My Tender Heart is an unreleased single planned for release in 1993 by Rosie Gaines, and was intended to be the first single from her planned debut album Concrete Jungle (which was reworked to become Closer Than Close, before an early version of Concrete Jungle received a digital release in 2009).
The a-side, My Tender Heart, was later released on Closer Than Close, although it was planned to be included on the single in edited form. The planned b-side for the single, Pain, has not been released by Rosie Gaines at that time, but was re-recorded by Chaka Khan and released on the Living Single soundtrack album. Rosie Gaines released her version as a stand-alone track in 2016.
The single would have been released through Paisley Park Records but the Concrete Jungle album was postponed and finally canceled. Although a video for the song was shot, My Tender Heart was not released as a single to promote the Closer Than Close album in 1995.
