Sign O’ The Times was a 7" single only released as a covermount with the October 2020 edition of Rolling Stone magazine in Germany, released on September 24, 2020, to promote the Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition. The a-side was the remastered single edit, included on the "Promo Mixes & B-Sides" disc of the set, while the b-side, Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 1), was taken from the "Vault Tracks part 1" disc.

The cover photo was a previously-unused picture by Jeff Katz from the original era. With new artwork and a different b-side from the original 1987 single release of Sign O’ The Times, this is not considered a re-release or variant of that single.

Promotion (at time of release) Triva
  • This single acted as promotion for the Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition, and promotion for this single was limited to Rolling Stone magazine itself, but an online and subscriber exclusive cover was available for this issue, also featuring a previously-unused photo by Jeff Katz.
