The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker is an unreleased single planned for release in late 1987 as a single from Prince’s ninth album Sign O’ The Times, but the single release was abandoned. Nothing is known about the proposed tracklist, although the a-side is believed to have been the album version of The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker.

An extended version was also intended for the 12" release.

It is possible the single was replaced by the more commercial I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man and that the intended b-side was Hot Thing, but this is purely speculative. "The Black Album" was originally planned to be released only five weeks after I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, however, so it is unlikely that another single from Sign O’ The Times would have been released following I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.
