U Make My Sun Shine is a single released initially as a free download single through NPGOnlineLtd.com on 21 December 2000, credited to Prince and Angie Stone, and containing full artwork and instructions for burning the single to CD (the tracks and artwork were reached by navigating through a complicated puzzle).

A CD version was released through retail stores four and a half months later, on 10 April 2001. Licensing to create the CD single was given freely, and a CD single was sold featuring clips of tracks by unrelated artists Track Squad without Prince’s explicit consent.

The single’s title track later appeared on The Chocolate Invasion, but the single was planned to be released soon before the album High, which was later aborted. The album was not mentioned on the single’s artwork, however.

The single is the first single by Prince to contain a co-credit (other than Prince and the Revolution or Prince and the New Power Generation; singles featuring Sheena Easton were credited only to Prince).

The single reached number 59 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales Chart, and number 26 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales Chart (it did not enter airplay charts).
