Standing In The Rain is an unreleased song by Ingrid Chavez and Prince, recorded with an improvised musical backing by Prince in mid-December 1987, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (shortly after cancelling the release of "The Black Album", during the same set of sessions as Reason Enough, Heaven Must Be Near, Crystal City Cry, Wintersong, Whispering Dandelions, Slappy Dappy, Candle Dance, Elephant Box, Touch Of Love, Blue Boy, Jadestone, Sad Puppet Dance and Cross The Line). Prince's music comprised of rain sound effects and sweeping synth chords. Unusally, though, Prince also contributes vocals to the track, engaging in a conversation with Chavez about why she is standing in the rain. Unlike many of the other tracks recorded during the sessions, this track is not known to have been worked on further at a later date. The track remains unreleased.
