Trust is the sixth track on Prince's eleventh album Batman (the motion picture soundtrack to the Tim Burton movie Batman), and, in late 1989, a promotional single of Trust was available in Hong Kong only (with no commercial release). The song also features in the movie Batman.
While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in March 1989 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions that produced Partyman, The Arms Of Orion, Dance With The Devil and Batdance). The song was submitted to replace 200 Balloons in the Batman movie, during The Joker's balloon parade (Baby I'm A Star had initially been used by the filmmakers to suggest what they wanted), and the filmmakers thought it worked better in the scene than the previously-submitted song, so it was included in the movie and on the album.
