Well Done is the fourth song on The Steeles' first album Heaven Help Us All. Well Done was written by Prince, David Z. Rivkin and Levi Seacer, Jr., but Prince submitted a re-recorded version for use that he felt was different enough for him to receive sole credit; David Z. Rivkin, Levi Seacer, Jr. and J.D. Steele all preferred the original version, so this was used, but credit was still only given to Prince. It was produced by Ricky Peterson.

While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place in November 1990, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during the same set of sessions where David Z. Rivkin and Levi Seacer, Jr. re-recorded And How, and Prince also recorded Hey, Louie Louie and Get Blue). Prince later re-worked the song at some point between late 1990 and early 1993, most likely at Paisley Park Studios, but this version remains unreleased.

Of note is that the track was released on 8 June 1993, just one day after Prince announced his name change to SymbolSmallerBlue.png, but the track is credited to Prince - this was the first of several times credits were given to Prince during the "SymbolSmallerBlue.png" era of 1993-2000.
