...Back 2 The Lotus is the twelfth and final track on Prince's 33rd studio album Lotusflow3r, and is a bookend to the album's first track From The Lotus....
While an exact recording dates is not known, initial tracking took place in November 2004, during a three-and-a-half hour session with Michael B. on drums and Sonny T. on bass at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA that also yielded 3121, From The Lotus..., Colonized Mind, Love Like Jazz, Wall Of Berlin, Planet Earth and Guitar. In an August 2006 interview, Michael B. said [they recorded] eleven or twelve tracks in three and a half hours that night. And a different occasion he has later indicated that this was the last recording sessions they did with Prince for a while after that.
Lyrics included in the track, stating "From the lotus flower..." were sampled in 3121 (released three years prior), supporting the theory that this track (and its counterpart From The Lotus...) was were recorded in 2005. It is not known if further work was done on the track later.
