A Couple Miles is an unreleased instrumental recorded on 26 December 1985 (the same day as Can I Play With U?, two days before the so called “Paisley Jam” that yielded Madrid, Breathless, Slaughterhouse, U Just Can’t Stop, Run Amok, 12 Keys, High Calonic and Mobile), at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California. Tenor and baritone saxophone overdubs were done by Eric Leeds on 30 December 1985.
The track was intended as a ‘tribute‘’ to Miles Davis, but unlike Can I Play With U?, although it was not intended for him to add to. In 1991 Eric Leeds later considered the track for his album Times Squared, but opted not to use it.
