Ain’t No Place Like U is the fifth track on Mayte’s first and only album Child Of The Sun. The song was written by SymbolSmallerBlue.png and Mayte, and produced by Prince (as SymbolSmallerBlue.png) (although no production credit is given). The album’s liner notes for this track state it was "Performed by the New Power Generation Drum Corp", but it is listed here as performed by Mayte, as she sings lead vocals and is credited as the artist for the album as a whole.

While specific recording dates are not known, basic tracking took place in 1993 or 1994, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. A completely different version was recorded in 1994 with Jevetta Steele on vocals, most likely also at Paisley Park Studios. Mayte’s version was included, in a slightly different mix than released, as the fifth track on a 5 May 1995 configuration of Child Of The Sun, where it remained for release, although it was worked on further in Summer 1995 before release. It is not known if the track was included on Mayte’s album Scorpio, which included some tracks from Child Of The Sun.

The repeated pounding drum pattern heard throughout the song was later reused for Slave.
