A Private Heaven is the fifth full-length studio album by Sheena Easton.

The album contained the track Sugar Walls, written by Prince under the pseudonym Alexander Nevermind, and was a conscious effort to move Sheena Easton away from her 'innocent' image and to show her in a more sexual way.

Sessions and compiling

Prince’s contribution, Sugar Walls, was recorded in late January or February 1984.

Promotion

The album produced five singles, Back In The City, Strut, Sugar Walls, Swear and Hungry Eyes (released in Japan only).

It reached number 15 on the US Billboard 200 Chart, and number 26 on the Billboard Soul LP’s Chart.

In 2022, the album was reissued in a Deluxe Edition with previously unreleased songs and versions.

Thanks
  • There are people who put their talent, patience and countless hours of hard work into the making of this album, who took the time to give it their best, and it shows... thank you, Sheena. Everyone at EMI Records, ICM, Solters/Roskin/Friedman, and Shankman, Deblasio. All the writers, musicians and technicians, and the guys at the "Sound Factory" and "Sunset Sound" especially Thad, Gail, Phil and Geoff. Also, Gary Freedman Trevor Veitch, Peggy McCreary, and Barbara Mathieson for being here every step of the way. But most of all the two people whose heart and soul are in this record, Greg Mathieson & David Leonard. Harriet Wasserman, who took a chance on me, "Our first together "H" here's to the rest!" And Rob my best friend, my "Private Heaven"
