Singles released

Of the 3 singles released from this album, only the one with a Prince contribution is listed below:

Stand Back
b/w Garbo
Standback single.jpg
The Wild Heart is the second solo album by Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks.

The album contains the song Stand Back, which features Prince on keyboards. The track also gives Prince co-writing credit, as the keyboard part was inspired by Prince’s own Little Red Corvette, but he did not have any direct writing input into the song. Prince’s contribution was not credited on the album due to Nicks' and Prince’s competing record labels.

The album marks the only collaboration between Prince and Stevie Nicks, and also marks the only release to feature original studio contributions by Prince and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, albeit on different tracks (Tom Petty would perform with Prince 21 years later at Prince’s induction into the Rock‘N’Roll Hall Of Fame, on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, which was later released). It also marks the only time Prince has worked with producer Jimmy Iovine.

Sessions and compiling

Prince’s contribution came as a result of Stevie Nicks being inspired by the synths in Little Red Corvette. While working at SIR Los Angeles she contacted Prince, who was working at nearby Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (on extended versions of Little Red Corvette and Drive Me Wild), and asked him to play on the track; Prince agreed.

Promotion

The album produced three singles, Stand Back (which preceded the album), If Anyone Falls, and Nightbird.

It reached number 5 on the US Billboard Pop Chart.
