Gimme Your Love
(Single) 		 
Through The Storm is the thirty-second studio album by Aretha Franklin. It was originally released in April 1989 and produced three singles. The first track, Gimme Your Love, a duet between James Brown and Aretha Franklin, also appeared on Brown’s 1989 album Soul Live Session. This song, written by Narada Michael Walden and Jeffrey Cohen and produced by Narada Michael Walden, was remixed by Prince (as Paisley Park) for the single release. Prince was not involved in the original version of the track or the recording of the Through The Storm album otherwise (therefore the listing below does not include the original issue and the other re-releases).

Gimme Your Love, released under both James Brown and Aretha Franklin’s names, became the third and final single from Aretha Franklin’s Through The Storm and the only single from Brown's Soul Live Session. Prince’s remixes of Gimme Your Love were not included on any official James Brown’s or Aretha Franklin’s albums or compilations and were only available on various formats of the single until their inclusion on the 2014 Expanded reissue of Through The Storm.

Prince’s remix session took place in 1989 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss added horn parts on the Extended Remix of Gimme Your Love (also known as Gimme Your Love (Parts One & Two) (Purple Mix)) which was edited to create three other mixes (Gimme Your Love (The Purple Mix Edit), Gimme Your Love (The Purple Mix Part One) and Gimme Your Love (The Purple Mix Part Two)). These versions were remastered for this reissue.

The Expanded edition of Through The Storm was released without much promotion and did not chart.
