Album details

Released: 28 May, 1991
Length: 56:57
Label(s): Paisley Park Records
Studio(s): Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA

True Confessions is the first and only album by rapper T.C. Ellis, and was released in May, 1991.

The album was released on Paisley Park Records, and was mostly overseen by Levi Seacer, Jr., but it contained three tracks with writing input by Prince: Miss Thang (on which Prince also plays all instruments), Girl O' My Dreams and Bambi (Rap), a rap version of the track Bambi from Prince's 1979 album Prince (which contains no musical input by Prince and is considered a cover version). In addition, the track True Confession contains a rap (written by T.C. Ellis) that had previously been included on the track New Power Generation (Pt. II).

The album produced two singles, Miss Thang and Pussycat, but the album failed to chart.

Girl O' My Dreams was initially recorded by Prince in Spring/Summer 1982, and was re-recorded by Prince and the Revolution in June, 1986, before being re-recorded by T.C. Ellis and Levi Seacer, Jr. in 1990 or early 1991 while working on the True Confessions album.

Miss Thang was recorded by Prince and T.C. Ellis in late Summer, 1989, making it the only track recorded by Prince specifically for the album. The album also includes contributions on other tracks from Eric Leeds, Rosie Gaines and George Clinton.
