Burns 1 is an unreleased track by poet/rapper Ninety-9, recorded in 1993, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during the same set of sessions as 40 Ounces, The Mood For Love, Stained Glass and Three Shots). The track is thought to be co-written and produced by Prince (as SymbolSmallerBlue.png). It is thought that the tracks were intended for an album by Ninety-9, but this remained unfinished and unreleased. Prince sampled the tracks heavily in 1993-5 recordings, however. A significant portion of the rap, as well as a looped sample of "Sex me?", was used in Joint 2 Joint. A lyrically identical but musically different version of the song without any Prince involvement was released on the album Subliminal Simulation by the band Dream Warriors in 1994 (Canada) and 1995 (USA). Since that version lacks any Prince involvement the track (as Burns 1) is still regarded unreleased.
