Crimson And Clover is the third track on the CD version of Prince’s 33rd studio album Lotusflow3r (the song was replaced on the download version by The Morning After).

The track is a cover version of the track by Tommy James and the Shondells (written by Tommy James and Peter Lucia Jr., from the 1968 album Crimson & Clover), and also includes (uncredited) portions of Wild Thing by The Wild Ones (written by Chip Taylor, from the 1965 album The Arthur Sound, but made more famous in 1966 by The Troggs), incorporated into the chorus.

Crimson And Clover was recorded in August 2008 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California (where Prince also worked on First Cut Is The Deepest, Compassion, Turn Me Loose, Future Soul Song, Dreamer, Boom and covered All Shook Up). Prince began playing the song live in October 2008.

Credits were only given for the digital version of the Lotusflow3r album, which did not include Crimson And Clover (for reasons unknown), so no official credits are given for this track.

The track was premiered on Los Angeles radio station Indie 103 on 18 December 2008, along with 4ever, Colonized Mind and Wall Of Berlin.
