Sign O’ The Times was the third Prince movie to be released in home video format. It was released on 5 May 1988 in the USA, after premiering in theaters on November 1987. The movie runs for approximately 85 minutes. The home video reached Billboard Top Video Cassette Sales Chart at position 8 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. After being sold by Prince to Cineplex Odeon Films in 1987, the rights of the movie passed between several companies resulting in the release of multiple laserdisc and dvd by various labels around the world. The Prince Estate intended to include the film on DVD with the Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition set in 2020, but the legal complications over the rights prevented them from doing so.
