How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore was released as the b-side on the single 1999, the first single from Prince's fifth album 1999. It was also featured on a re-issue of the cassette release of the album in 1983, which now featured the content of the other teritories 1LP version with How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore and D.M.S.R. added.

In 1993, it was included as the 16th track on The B-Sides compilation (included as the third and final disc on The Hits / The B-Sides).

In 1996, the song was also included as the eleventh track on the soundtrack album Girl 6 (a compilation of music by Prince and associated artists for the movie Girl 6, directed by Spike Lee). In late 1998, it was included on the re-issue of the 1999 single.

In 2002, a live version of the track was included as the sixteenth track on the second disc of the One Nite Alone...
