The track was written by Brown Mark as We Did Things Our Way before Prince re-wrote the lyrics and renamed the song I Guess It's All Over. It was believed Prince was not involved in the track musically, but in 2017 Aaron Paul "Ace" Keith revealed that he played guitar solo on the song.
