I Guess It's All Over is the eighth and final song on Mazarati's first album Mazarati, and, around the time of the album's release, the track was included as the b-side of Player's Ball, the album's first single. The track was written by Brown Mark as We Did Things Our Way before Prince re-wrote the lyrics and renamed the song I Guess It's All Over. Prince was not involved in the track musically.
While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place in May 1985 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA, while Prince was working simultaneously in another studio in the building on the Parade album.
