I Love U In Me was released as the b-side on the single The Arms Of Orion, the third single from Prince’s eleventh album Batman. In 1991, the track was also included as the b-side on the single Insatiable, the third single from Prince’s thirteenth album Diamonds And Pearls (the first album to be credited to Prince and the New Power Generation). In 1993, it was included as the eighth track on The B-Sides compilation (included as the third and final disc on The Hits / The B-Sides).
In 2015, an acoustic version of the track, with some lyrical changes, was included as the sixth track on the acoustic album Oui Can Luv by Andy Allo featuring Prince on acoustic guitar.
While specific recording dates are unknown, basic tracking for I Love U In Me took place in Summer - Autumn, 1989, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Specific recording dates for the acoustic re-recording are not known, but it is believed to have been recorded in mid-2011 to mid-2012 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, during sessions for Andy Allo’s second album Superconductor.
