Joy In Repetition is the eighth track on Prince's twelfth album Graffiti Bridge. The song also features in the movie Graffiti Bridge.

In 2002, a live version was included as the opening track on the live album One Nite Alone... The Aftershow: It Ain't Over.

Initial tracking took place on 17 July 1986 (the day after I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man was re-worked, five days before Soulpsychodelicide (a song mentioned in Joy In Repetition), and an instrumental later released as Easy Does It), but it was not included on the configuration of the album Dream Factory prepared the very next day; it was, however, included as the album developed into the triple-album Crystal Ball (where it segued from The Ball). When the album was pared down to became Sign O' The Times, Joy In Repetition was removed.

It was included as the seventh track on a 1989 configuration of Graffiti Bridge (where it kept the original segue, this time from We Can Funk). It was included as the eighth track on a 1990 configuration, where it remained for release (with the segue intact).
