Love, Love, Love was first released as the fourth track on a 1992 reissue of 94 East's first collection of studio recordings Minneapolis Genius, featuring Prince on guitar. The track has featured on every subsequent collection of 94 East's early recordings. In 1995 it was included as the seventh track on the second disc of Symbolic Beginning (re-released in 1999 as The Legends Collection). In 2000 it was included as the 13th track on 94 East Featuring Prince. Also in 2000, it was included as the eighth track on the second disc of One Man Jam. In 2002, it was included as the sixth track on the second disc of If You Feel Like Dancin'.
Basic tracking took place in Summer 1978, at Prince's France Avenue Home Studio in Edina, Minnesota (along with You Can Be My Teacher), although the basic tracking took place by Pepé Willie while house-sitting for Prince, who was away. When Prince returned, he recorded bass guitar and guitar overdubs, also at the home studio.
