Lovesexy is the sixth song on Prince's tenth album Lovesexy. In 1989, a live version was included on the Lovesexy Live 1 VHS, taken from the 9 September 1988 live TV broadcast. Basic tracking took place on 14 December 1987 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (two days after No and Positivity, and the day before Sheila E. recorded lead vocal overdubs on Latino Barbie Doll). The music, however, was completely different to the released track, described by Eric Leeds as "lighter, bouncier". The original version was included on the first configuration of Lovesexy compiled on 21 January 1988, but Prince still wasn't happy with the track. Keeping the lyrics, Prince created new music, and recorded a new solo version on 29 January 1988 (two days before recording I Wish U Heaven), which was included as the sixth track on an early February configuration of Lovesexy, where it remained for the final release. Additional Information See also Trivia Lovesexy album Lovesexy Tour Prince used the term "lovesexy" as the name of the Lovesexy Tour. Prince described the term "lovesexy" on tour as "the feeling u get when u fall in love - not with a girl or boy, but with the heavens above". The "Bizarre!" sample used in this song is originally from Our Bizarre Relationship by Frank Zappa's band The Mothers of Invention (from Uncle Meat, 1969). It was one of the preset samples in the Fairlight CMI sample-synthesizer and Prince took it from there. It was utilized in quite a few songs recorded between 1985 and 1987: All My Dreams, Bob George, Christopher Tracy's Parade, Lovesexy, and Madhouse songs Nine and 6 (The End Of The World Mix) all contain this sample.
