- 1987 – At the 7th annual Minnesota Music Awards held at the UoM Northrop Auditorium, Minneapolis, MN, USA, Prince is awarded 11 awards, including Single of the Year with Kiss (a tie with The Jets’ “Crush On You”). Prince was not present. His father, John L. Nelson, accepted the prize for Kiss and introduced a previously taped speech by Prince
