My Computer is the ninth track on the third disc of Prince's 19th album Emancipation, the third album to be credited to SymbolSmallerBlue.png.

Initial tracking dates are unknown, but it is likely that the track was recorded in late 1995 or early 1996 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA. It features British singer/songwriter Kate Bush on background vocals, marking her first and only appearance on a Prince/SymbolSmallerBlue.png recording (although Prince had previously appeared on her track Why Should I Love You?).

The track also uses an opening and closing sample from AOL's e-mail program (stating "You've got mail" and "goodbye").

  • Although SymbolSmallerBlue.png is using the term "my computer" in a broad, generic sense, the term "my computer" is usually used to refer to a computer's local files and folders, and would not involve communication with anyone else on a network (which is the subject of the song).
