My Drawers was written by Prince under the pseudonym Jamie Starr, but was credited on the album to Morris Day. It was co-produced by Morris Day and Prince under the name The Starr Company.

Initial tracking took place on 11 January 1984 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (two days before Ice Cream Castles). In 1990, it was planned as the b-side of the single Pandemonium, before that single was canceled and replaced by Chocolate, where it remained as the b-side.
