Paisley Park is the second track on Prince's seventh album Around The World In A Day, the second to be credited to Prince and the Revolution, and a month after the album's release, Paisley Park was released as the album's first single in the UK, Europe and Australia (Raspberry Beret was released in North America and Japan).

Initial tracking took place in early September 1984 at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse, Eden Prairie, MN, USA. The song was long thought to have been recorded in March 1984 at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, CA, USA, but this was in fact an instrumental song titled Paisley Park, with no other connection to this song but its title.

Paisley Park became the name of Prince's recording studio complex, Paisley Park Studios, when it opened in 1987. Prince had previously used the term "Paisley Park" to refer to the recording facility at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prarie, MN. It was also used as the name of his record label, Paisley Park Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. from 1985 to 1993. Despite the many uses of the term "Paisley Park", the lyrics state that "Paisley Park is in your heart", indicating that it is a feeling or an ideal rather than one specific place.
