Redhead Stepchild is a song performed by Támar and Prince on the nationally broadcast TV show Good Morning America on 16 June 2006. The song was written, produced and performed by Prince. Basic tracking took place on 7 April 2005, at either Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, or 3121 Antelo Rd. in Los Angeles, California. Prince first cut it as a version with him singing lead, before having Támar sing the lead.
The version with Prince singing lead was placed on a late October 2005 configuration of 3121.
The song, with Támar singing lead was included on her planned first album, then titled Beautiful, Loved & Blessed; it was included as the eighth track when the album was later renamed Milk & Honey, but after the TV performance the album’s release was abandoned, and it remains unreleased.
In 2012, the previously-unreleased studio version of the track was included as streaming audio (with no download option) in the Támar Davis mobile app (released 12 September 2012). . In 2019, the song was included as the first track on the Not In The Vault Vol. 1 single.
