Return Of The Bump Squad is the twelfth track (sixth song) on the New Power Generation’s second ’solo' album Exodus. In 2001, a 1995 live version was released as part of NPG Music Club Edition # 2 (to premium members only).

While specific recording dates are now known, basic tracking took place between December 1994 - early January 1995, at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota (during the same set of sessions as The Good Life, Big Fun and Cherry, Cherry). Eric Leeds recorded saxophone overdubs on 16 January 1995, also at Paisley Park Studios (on the same day as recording horn overdubs on Big Fun, Good Pussy and I’m A DJ).

The track contains sampled lines of dialogue by Richard Pryor and Margaret Avery from the 1977 movie Which Way Is Up?.
