Right Back Here In My Arms is the second track on the first disc of Prince’s 19th album Emancipation, the third to be credited to . Two weeks after the album’s release, it was also included as the b-side of Betcha By Golly Wow!, the album’s first single.

Basic tracking dates are unknown, but it is likely that the track was recorded in mid-1995 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The repeated drum pattern heard throughout this song was also used for the Bullets Go Bang Remix of The Good Life, created around the same time. The track contains repeated vocal samples of "and that’s my only mission" from Ninety-9’s track Three Shots (containing input by Prince) - it is unknown if this sample was added immediately or at a later date.

Right Back Here In My Arms was included as the first track on a July 1995, configuration of Emancipation, and as the second track on another 1995 configuration. It was copyrighted at the Library of Congress on 25 August 1995 (along with Die, Journey 2 The Center Of Your Heart and Poom Poom).

Somewhere in 1995, Right Back Here In My Arms was planned for a single release, with Journey 2 The Center Of Your ♥ as its b-side, but the single was left unreleased.

The track was premiered on Minneapolis radio station KMOJ by DJ Brother Jules on 16 November 1995, just over a year before its release.
