Do Me, Baby was the fourth single (third in the US) to be released from Prince’s fourth album Controversy, released nine months after the album. The single was released only in the USA and in Peru. An edit of the title track was used as the A-side. The B-side, Private Joy, was also taken from the album Controversy.

The single did not enter the charts.

A single of a 1979 studio version of the song was released posthumously in 2021, with different artwork. This single receives a separate single page on our site here.
